Apple launched Clips along with a new iPad and iPhone this week
APPLE have created an app that lets you edit while filming short clips – just like Snapchat and Instagram.
The iPhone makers surprised – and delighted – fans this week with three product launches, including a new iPhone 7, 7 Plus and iPad, which can all use the app.
What is Apple Clips and when is it being released?
Apple’s new app called Clips lets people film videos and capture images and edit them for uploading to social media.
The free app combines filters which transform moving film into pieces of art.
Apple Clips is being made available in the App store in April.
How do you use Apple Clips?
To create videos or images in Clips, simply hold the record button with the app open.
You can also upload files from your photo library if you wish to use ones you already have.
Once you had opened the content in the app, you can add filters, emojis or shapes to images to customise them for your friends or followers.
You can also cover video in speech bubbles and captions using the app’s Live Titles feature which creates the text based solely on your voice.
There’s also an option to add subtitles which translate your voice into a whopping 36 languages.
Can you add music to Apple Clips?
Music can be added to the background, so Apple customers can appear in their very own pop video at the tap of a button.
Apple is to provide dozens of music tracks which can be added to videos.
These songs automatically adjust so they are the same length as the video you are editing in the app.
Where can you share Apple Clips to?
The clips can be uploaded to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo in a jiffy.
Apple have made it even easier to share content via Facebook Messenger, as it can suggest names of people in the video so you can forward it on.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Apps Product Marketing said: “Clips gives iPhone and iPad users a new way to express themselves through video, and it’s incredibly easy to use.
“The effects, filters and amazing new Live Titles we’ve designed for Clips let anyone make great-looking, easily sharable videos with just a few taps.”
What phones and tablets are compatible with Apple Clips?
The app will work with phones that are iPhone 5s or later.
Devices must be running on an operating system that is iOS 10.3, however.
The tablets and iPods that can run Apple Clips are the new 9.7-inch iPad, all iPad Air and iPad Pro models, iPad mini 2 and later, and iPod touch 6th generation.
