PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscribers have been given another bonus freebie in September 2017.
With the Star Wars Battlefront 2 November 17 release date creeping up fast, EA has made the original Star Wars Battlefront season pass available for free.
Representing a saving of £20 (although it was £39.99 when it launched), the Star Wars Battlefront season pass can currently be downloaded from the PlayStation and Xbox stores at no cost.
PS4 owners don’t need a PlayStation Plus membership to download the pass, but PS Plus is required to enjoy online multiplayer.
An Xbox Live Gold membership is required to both download and play the DLC on Xbox One.
It’s unclear if this is a permanent promotion or just EA’s way of building hype for Star Wars Battlefront 2.
PlayStation Plus subscribers can also download the likes of inFamous Second Son and Child of Light in September 2017, while Xbox Games with Gold currently includes Trials Fusion and Forza Motorsport 5.
The Star Wars Battlefront season pass grants owners access to four post-release expansions.
This includes the Death Star expansion, the Rogue One: Scarif map pack, the Bespin DLC and Outer Rim.
Each expansion adds brand new maps, such as Cloud City, Sullust, Scarif and the Death Star interior.
The season pass also unlocks multiple new characters, like Chewbacca, Jyn Erso and Lando Calrissian.
It should keep fans busy until the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
One of the main goals of the new game is to keep fans entertained for a longer period of time, which is part of the reason why DICE added a story mode.
It will also feature “vastly improved” starfighter combat with “superior controls, deeper customization, and role-based team play featuring an all new class-based system”.
