During his 25-year career as an economist, he has held several influential positions that have had a direct impact on entrepreneurs, both in Canada and abroad. A seasoned speaker, he travels the country regularly to help business owners understand the risks and opportunities presented by the economic environment.

Francis Vaillancourt

With more than 25 years of experience in management, consulting and entrepreneurship, Francis Vaillancourt has acquired great expertise in the development of SMEs. Often described as a dynamic change agent, Francis understands the reality of each company he works with and adapts quickly to it. Prior to joining BDC, he held various production, quality and lean manufacturing management positions, where he distinguished himself through his ability to boost productivity. Francis was also an entrepreneur in a fast growing company, where he was a shareholder and vice president responsible for operations.

Francis holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from École Polytechnique and an MBA from the University of Quebec in Montreal. He currently heads up BDC’s Operational Efficiency Department, overseeing more than 400 projects annually to help Canadian SMEs become more competitive.
