Not each enterprise can turn into the element of TWSE like Acer Inc.Additional than 800 shares are publicly traded on the TWSE, as of December 2013. This provides its total industry capitalization to much more than NT$24 million.

Taiwan is home to some of the greatest intercontinental electronics deal producers, which are detailed on the TWSE. These organizations involve Hon Hai Precision Market, Taiwan Semiconductor Production (TSMC), among some others. Both equally Hon Hai Precision Market and TSMC have collaborations with significant intercontinental technology organizations these as Apple.

The pre-industry session on the TWSE lasts for an hour, starting at 7:40 a.m. and ending at 8:40 a.m. The regular session lasts for just about 5 hrs, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 1:45 p.m. Last of all, the submit-industry session also lasts for an hour, starting at 2:00 p.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m.

The TAIEX had recorded an all-time small of 3,446.26 in 2001 shortly following the terrorist assault at the Entire world Trade Center (WTC) in US, which had taken the life of many persons. The unfortunate function had led to a world wide financial meltdown and Taiwan, as a country with major reliance on exportation, is 1 of the various international locations that had been affected the most.

On the other hand, it had recorded an all-time higher of 10,202.20 in 2000 as the Taiwanese economy recouped from the economical repercussions of the earthquake that had transpired a calendar year prior. Shares of Acer Inc experience the security of this industry.

Gun painted like Nintendo ‘Zapper,’ 17 other weapons found at home of St. Louis County rape suspect | News

UPDATED at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 13 with comment from Army.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY • A felon was caught with 18 guns, many with high-capacity magazines, amid a rape investigation that began last month, the North County Police Cooperative said.

Darkel Martin

Darkel Martin

Darkel Deshay Martin, 31, originally caught the attention of police when a woman said he’d entered her home in Charlack on Sept. 27 without permission and sexually assaulted her, charging documents say. Martin has addresses in Charlack and East St. Louis in court records.

During the investigation, members of the North County Police Cooperative and agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found Martin, police said. Martin consented to a search of his home, and police and agents found 18 firearms and a bullet-resistant vest. Two were AR-15-type pistols, police said, and both had 100-round drum magazines. One pistol was painted to resemble a light gun — a Nintendo “Zapper” — that is used with a video game system. Two were equipped with what resembled silencers or suppressors, although they were unlikely to function as such, police said. A Glock pistol was equipped with accessories that made it resemble a machine pistol like a MAC-10.

Martin’s lawyer on the state charge declined to comment.

Chief Tim Swope said in an interview earlier this week that the guns were “obviously of great concern with what’s been going on not only in our community but across the country.”

Martin was charged Sept. 28 in St. Louis County Circuit Court with burglary, second-degree rape, armed criminal action and a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Last week, St. Louis County prosecutors sought to revoke Martin’s bond, accusing him of threatening the alleged victim in the rape case. He failed to show up in court and failed to attach a GPS tracker required by the court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest Wednesday.

Martin was also indicted in federal court Oct. 4 on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment says only that he possessed one or more firearms.

He was arrested by the U.S. marshals Wednesday, police said.

Police said that Martin did not tell investigators why he’d amassed the guns, but said the investigation was ongoing. Martin did say that he was a former U.S. Army Ranger, but police said that information had not been verified.

An Army spokesman said that records did not show an Army veteran matching Martin’s name or date of birth.

In an email, a North County Police Cooperative lieutenant said that it was the cooperative’s largest gun seizure since it was formed in 2015, and that it “likely prevented some serious and violent crimes from happening in the St. Louis Metro area.” He also praised the help and cooperation of the ATF and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

NVIDIA Volta and AMD Vega GPU Architectures Detailed at Hot Chips ’17

NVIDIA and AMD, the graphics giants of the modern world have detailed their next generation GPU architectures at Hot Chips 2017. The latest details include an in-depth look at the NVIDIA Volta and AMD Vega GPUs which are powering high performance machines to complete the most demanding tasks known to mankind.

NVIDIA Volta and AMD Vega GPUs Detailed at Hot Chips 2017 – The Most In-Depth Look You’ll Ever Get at the Modern Day Powerhouses of the Graphics World

The NVIDIA Volta and AMD Vega GPUs were introduced this year. Both GPU architectures are created for the most demanding graphics tasks that the HPC market can think of. We already detailed the NVIDIA Volta and AMD Vega architectures in detail but here’s an even more detailed look at the latest generation of FinFET GPUs from each company.

NVIDIA Tesla V100 – Built With the Tesla GV100 Chip, Up To 84 SMs With 5376 CUDA Cores

First up, we have the NVIDIA Tesla V100 which is built using the Volta GV100 GPU. The GPU consists of 21 Billion transistors that are packaged in a die measuring 815mm2. The Tesla V100 specifically uses 80 of the 84 SMs available on the GV100 GPU. That is to enable higher yields without the need to sacrifice much of the compute capabilities. With the 80 SMs on board the GPU, we get 5120 cuda cores, 2560 double precision cores and 640 tensor cores. There’s also 16 GB of HBM2 on board the chip and by chip, we are referring to the interposer that houses the GPU and VRAM.

The HBM2 that is featured on Tesla V100 is by far the fastest we have seen to date and developed by Samsung. It’s running at 900 GB/s which is almost a terabyte worth of bandwidth. There’s also the NVLINK interconnect that runs at 300 GB/s per GPU, offering much higher communication speeds than the one released a generation prior on Pascal GPUs which was rated at 160 GB/s.

When we compare raw performance stats, the results look absolutely shocking. The Tesla P100 released last year but the Tesla V100 is faster and better in ever possible way. The Deep Learning speed has gone up by a factor of 12x (120 TFLOPs vs 10 TFLOPs), the Deep Learning Inference has gone up by a factor of 6x (120 TFLOPs vs 21 TFLOPs), Single and Half precision compute is up by 50% while both cache and bandwidth have received significant updates.

NVIDIA mentions that they have achieved a 50% increase in efficiency per SM with Tesla V100 compared to Tesla P100 and the improved SIMT architecture along with tensor acceleration that can deliver up to 9.3x speedup in certain workloads (provided the CUDA 9 software optimization) will make Volta a revolutionary step in GPU engineering for them. You can read more about the NVIDIA Volta GV100 GPU and the Tesla V100 accelerator here.

AMD Vega 10 – The First Flagship Radeon GPU in More Than Two Years Detailed

AMD released their flagship Vega GPU, the Vega 64 earlier this month. It’s aiming at the high-end segment which has seen no action by team Radeon for the last two years, but now the wait is over. The AMD Vega 10 GPU or Vega 64 (the full fat die) is based on the 14nm FinFET architecture from GlobalFoundries and has a die size of 486mm2. It houses 12.5 Billion transistors. The package is measuring at 2256mm2 compared to 2500mm2 of the Fiji chip. The power envelope is stated at 150-300W which means there will be significantly more variants of this chip.

The last part is confirmed through another interesting detail in the slide which mentions that the 2 stacks of HBM2 can incorporate 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB of VRAM. We have already seen 8 GB and 16 GB variants of the chip but it shows that there are still more to come. A 4 GB HBM2 VRAM size for a Vega 10 SKU that ships with a TDP under 200W will be pretty sweet.

When it comes to the architectural layout, Vega is different compared to Fiji in many aspects. The block diagram of the Vega 10 core shows that the chip consists of a single graphics engine with 4 ACE (Asynchronous Compute Engine) units, 2 SDMA (System DMA) units and a fully operational IF (Infinity Fabric) interconnect that runs within the GPU. The graphics engine consists of 4 DSBRs (Draw Stream Binning Rasterizers), Flexible Geometry Engines, 64 Pixel Units and 256 texture units. The Unified Compute Engine is made up of 64 NCUs (Next Compute Units) that house 4096 stream processors and also 4 MB of L2 cache.

AMD has put a lot of emphasis on SR-IOV (Single Root I/O Virtualization) and reveal that the Vega 10 GPU can support up to 16 Virtual Machines at once. AMD is also mentioning their Rapid Packed Math technology which allows for 16-bit math operations. There’s also talk of an AMD ROCM stack which is constantly being updated and improved to support the latest professional workloads so that AMD GPUs are properly optimized for various tasks, especially the Radeon Instinct line of GPU based accelerators which are utilizing the Vega architecture. Starring chili dogs and wiggling chickens.

The two big games of the week are across two systems as Sonic Mania has already been dropped, while the 3DS gets the first post-Renegade Kid product of Jools Watsham with Chicken Wiggle. The former is created by modders, while the latter comes with its own modding tools. Which one’s the more fun platformer? We’ll leave that up to you. Jared reviewed Sonic Mania for us, while Matt West’s review of Chicken Wiggle should be up shortly.

In other news, we have another demo as the Rayman Legends demo for the Switch’s Definitive Edition is now available. Press X to MUUUUUUUURPHY. There’s also two Jackbox Party Packs for those really pricey parties. On the retro front we have Magician Lord, one of the more popular non-fighting game properties of the Neo Geo.

Since the lineups for all three territories are largely similar, a word about the retail release Troll and I: Multiple reports exist of a repeatable hard lock bug in the Switch version, that according to the publisher can be resolved by power cycling the system (turning off and back on). No word yet on a patch for this issue.

Apple’s Q2 2017 MacBook Sales Increase 17 Percent Over the Previous Quarter

Apple’s notebook shipments totaled an estimated 3.98 million units in the second quarter of the 2017 calendar year, representing a quarter-on-quarter increase of 17.1 percent, according to new data published by market research firm TrendForce.

Apple gained ground on ASUS at fifth place in the second quarter ranking, with a 0.7 percent increase over the previous quarter to leave both companies taking a 10 percent share of the market. TrendForce highlighted Apple’s decision to upgrade its 12-inch MacBook as one of the reasons behind the gains.

Apple trailed closely behind ASUS at fifth place in the second-quarter ranking. The updated 12-inch MacBook helped expand MacBook shipments by 17.1 percent from the first quarter to 3.98 million units. TrendForce also anticipates a double-digit sequential growth for third-quarter MacBook shipments as Apple will focus on the MacBook Pro series during the year’s second half.

Global notebook shipments in the second quarter of 2017 registered a sequential quarterly increase of 5.7 percent and a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percent, totaling 39.96 million units. Sales in the U.S. and the arrival of new product models were said to be the main driving forces behind the second quarter shipments, with strong demand in the entire first half of 2017 exceeding market expectations.

Tapping into back-to-school sales, HP’s market share increased by 8.5 percent, allowing the company to retain first place in the global shipment ranking for the fifth consecutive quarter, while Dell posted the largest sequential increase of 21.3 percent to take third place in the ranking. Lenovo meanwhile shipped just 8.05 million units in the second quarter, representing a year-on-year drop of 2.4 percent, with slowdown in the notebook market in the Asia-Pacific region said to have had an impact on the brand’s performance.

Acer’s aggressive expansion in the Chromebook market did little to fend off rival models in the U.S., causing its notebook shipments to drop by 3.5 percent from the first quarter to 3.22 million units, with Acer remaining in sixth place in the global ranking.

TrendForce noted there are worries in the market that the strong shipment result for this year’s first half reflects demand pulling ahead, so shipments in the second half might be comparatively weak. Despite that, third-quarter notebook shipments are projected to increase by another 3-5 percent versus the previous quarter.

Apple updated its 13-inch and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro notebooks in June, introducing faster processors and improved GPUs just eight months after the machines were last refreshed. It also introduced a new low-price 13-inch MacBook Pro sans Touch Bar with a 128GB SSD. No other changes were made to the MacBook Pro.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is working on a high-end 15-inch MacBook Pro model that will include 32GB RAM, with production on this machine to begin early in the fourth quarter of 2017. Kuo claimed the MacBook Pro will be “the most significantly redesigned product this year” with desktop-class RAM to appeal to high-end users.

The Division 1.7: Release date set for PS4, Xbox One and PC update | Gaming | Entertainment

The development team have now laid out their plans on when they hope to deploy the latest update for the Tom Clancy shooter.

The Division 1.7 release date will be announced this week, with Ubisoft confirming that they hope to have it primed for mid-August.

This will likely be announced during one of the scheduled live streams that will be hosted on Twitch later this week.

One of the big additions coming with The Division 1.7 will be the launch of the first outbreak event, which comes with its own rewards.

A message from Ubisoft explains: “The first Global Event, Outbreak, will be available when Update 1.7 is live, plus or minus an hour or two.

“The available Classified sets from this event are Deadeye, Final Measure, and Lone Star.

“Based on player feedback, Outbreak’s Contamination has been tuned down as well. Don’t forget the NinjaBike Backpack is in the general loot pool for 1.7.”

Outbreak adds extra headshot damage and a toxic effect to Cleaner attacks, with the idea that all enemy factions are afflicted with a disease.

This is currently live on the PC PTS, while a number of other changes have also been worked on.

“Classified caches earned from Global Events have been improved to drop two items every time,” Ubisoft reveal.

“The drop rates are as follows: a 45% chance for a Classified gear item, a 43.5% chance for a normal gear set item, and an 11.5% chance for an Exotic.

“There is also a 12.5% chance to earn an additional third item, with a 90% chance it’ll be a Classified item and a 10% chance it’ll be Exotic.

“The previous SASG shotgun changes from PTS3 will make it into 1.7, but no more changes are scheduled at the moment.

“We are still monitoring shotguns with Cronusmax in mind, and we want to remind players that we acknowledge this as one of the current issues.

“We are doing in-depth investigations to identify causes of in-game lag. We are hoping to address specific examples on next week’s State of the Game after more investigation, so keep the feedback rolling.”

Expect more news on the official Division update launch to be confirmed later this week, with Thursday, August 10 a possible date for new information to be shared.

Sonatype’s State of the Software Supply Chain, Motorola and Neurala team up for AI, and The Bitfury Group’s Exonum — SD Times news digest: July 17, 2017

Sonatype released its third annual State of the Software Supply Chain report, which highlights risks within open source software components. The report also highlights the benefits of managing software supply chain hygiene.

“Companies are no longer building software applications from scratch, they are manufacturing them as fast as they can using an infinite supply of open source component parts. However, many still rely on manual and time consuming governance and security practices instead of embracing DevOps-native automation. Our research continues to show that development teams managing trusted software supply chains are dramatically improving quality and productivity,” said Wayne Jackson, CEO of Sonatype.

Key findings from the report include: consumption of open source components is growing at a massive scale, component suppliers remain slow to fix vulnerabilities, and the number of downloaded components with known vulnerabilities is slightly decreasing.

Motorola and Neurala bring AI to cameras
Motorola and Neurala are teaming up develop artificial intelligence cameras to ensure public safety. The companies hope the cameras will enable police officers to better search for objects or persons of interest.

“We see powerful potential for artificial intelligence to improve safety and efficiency for our customers, which in turn helps create safer communities,” said Paul Steinberg, CTO for Motorola Solutions. “But applying AI in a public safety setting presents unique challenges. Neurala’s ‘edge learning’ capabilities will help us explore solutions for a variety of public safety workflows such as finding a missing child or investigating an object of interest, such as a bicycle.”

Bitfury launches blockchain framework
The Bitfury Group released a new open source enterprise-grade blockchain framework, Exonum. It’s an authentic blockchain platform that companies, institutions, and the government can use to easily and securely build blockchain into applications.

“We have spent almost two years working to create our Exonum Blockchain platform, deeply analyzing and modeling different Blockchain concepts. Exonum is the direct result of extensive research and testing by our elite team of best-in-class mathematicians, scientists, developers and analysts coming together to create this inimitable platform,” said Valery Vavilov, CEO of The Bitfury Group.

The source code for Exonum can be found through the product’s official website and on GitHub. Developers can incorporate, adapt, or extend the source code for their needs.
