New printers demonstrate Samsung’s leadership in mobile printing and commitment to offering convenience to users
RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – July 24, 2013 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today announced availability of the company’s first Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled color laser printers, which let users print high quality photos and documents from their smartphones with ease. The NFC-enabled Xpress C4x0 series consists of two printers: the C410W color laser printer and the C460FW color laser multi-function printer, both designed with home and small office users in mind. Users can effortlessly print files from an NFC-enabled smartphone just by tapping it on the printer. Print settings and preferences are easily controlled through the popular Samsung Mobile Print App. The Xpress C4x0 series will be available in stores beginning July 29. Pricing will start at $229 for the single function C410W and $399 for the multifunction C460FW. Samsung also plans to introduce an NFC-enabled multi-function printer (MFP) aimed at businesses in the 1st quarter of 2014.
“Simplifying the mobile printing process has been a focus for Samsung since 2009. NFC brings this to a new level by making it even easier to print documents and photos directly from your smartphone,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of consumer IT product marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “With today’s mobile lifestyles, printing can be inconvenient, and we are committed to creating solutions that solve customer pain points. The Xpress C4x0 series illustrates our continued leadership in mobile printing and demonstrates our commitment to designing products that enhance the consumer experience.”
Mobile Printing Made Easy
Both the Xpress C410W and C460FW connect wirelessly with mobile devices via NFC for fast, integrated and convenient printing on-the-go. Users can effortlessly and securely print pictures, documents, e-mails and web content by simply tapping their smartphones on the printer. Scanning and faxing documents is also easy as users can sync contacts from their smartphones with the multi-function C460FW.
Users without an NFC-enabled phone can still benefit from mobile printing with the Samsung Mobile Print App. The App enables users to print virtually everything from PDF files to Microsoft Office documents directly from their smartphones. The Samsung Mobile Print App is available for Android, iOS and Windows* devices.
Users who do not have NFC-enabled smartphones or have not installed the Samsung Mobile Print App to their phones can still benefit from the Xpress C4x0 series through Google Cloud Print support. This solution allows users to print over the web when connected anywhere with any smart device, including tablets, laptops and Chromebooks.
Additionally, owners of Samsung’s GALAXY smartphones and GALAXY Tab devices have the added benefit of being able to print files directly through integrated mobile print support without needing to download a separate application. Users can simply click “print” from within photos, documents, email and web browser pages to quickly print via WiFi or WiFi Direct.
Simple, Hassle-free Print Features
The process of setting up wireless printers is often time consuming and complicated. However, with Samsung’s Xpress C4x0 series, installation is done in just three quick steps without the need for a USB connection between the printer and computer, saving valuable time for users.
The new line-up features several additional solutions that save time and money by making it easy to manage print jobs and keep track of printer supplies. With Samsung’s “Easy Printer Manager” desktop application, users can monitor printer status, such as error messages, paper jam alerts and lack of paper or toner. This simplifies life for consumers and enables small businesses to better manage their printers.
The series’ “One Touch Eco Button” and “Easy Eco Driver” enable users to operate the printers in Eco mode, saving up to 20 percent in overall costs. The “Easy Eco Driver” was awarded the “Outstanding Achievement in Innovation” award from Buyers Lab in 2012.
The models in the C4x0 series are able to print up to 19 pages per minute (ppm) in black and white and up to four pages per minute in color, giving users rapid access to their documents, photos and more. In addition, the C460FW includes copy, scan and fax functionalities.
Exquisite Color Rendering and Product Design
Samsung’s unique Rendering Engine for Clean Page (ReCP) technology guarantees professional quality output with sharp text and clean images, while the polymerized toner makes for strikingly vivid and glossy color printing.
Samsung’s new NFC-enabled printers look great on any desk and were awarded the prestigious iF Product Design Award in 2013 for ergonomic design and ease-of-use.
The Xpress C410W printer and C460FW MFP will be available in stores beginning July 29. The C410W and C460FW retail prices are $229 and $399, respectively.
