PlayStation Plus July 2017 FREE bonus PS4 game reveal as fans wait for July announcement

Following a fairly decent PlayStation Plus June 2017 games lineup, fans are no doubt eagerly anticipating what will be included in next month’s collection.

However, while we’re yet to know exactly what titles will be included in the PlayStation Plus July 2017 announcement, which is expected to drop next week, we do already know one free game available to PS4 users in the form of a new PlayLink game.

Speaking with , PlayStation Europe chief Jim Ryan confirmed that a little extra for PlayStation Plus subscribers, saying:

“If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’ll get all of the usual benefits of PlayStation Plus, but you’ll also get this first game for free as well,” he said. “So we’re hoping that all of the millions and millions of PlayStation Plus subscribers are going to act as evangelists and ambassadors for this title when it comes.”

“So we’re hoping that all of the millions and millions of PlayStation Plus subscribers are going to act as evangelists and ambassadors for this title when it comes.”

PlayLink for PS4 was announced last week at E3 2017 and includes a collection of brand new pick-up-and-play party games which take advantage of a smartphone or tablet device’s touchscreen and camera capabilities.

“PlayLink titles are designed to be played in a group setting, allowing for a truly fun and dynamic experience. The collection of PlayLink games vary from gritty crime thrillers to quick-fire quizzes,” a message from Sony explains.

“If you have a smartphone or tablet with the free companion app installed and your PS4 hooked up to a TV, you’re already set.

“PlayLink games turn your smartphone or tablet into a versatile controller – you can swipe, pinch, drag, tilt, rotate or even snap selfies and draw crafty doodles, depending on the game.

“No matter which title you choose from our PlayLink collection, it’s guaranteed to be a slick pick-up-and-play experience.”

And in celebration of PlayLink’s launch, PlayStation Plus members will be able to access the full version of new title, That’s You! at no additional cost starting on July 4.

This is the date where the rest of the normal PS4, PS3 and PS Vita games will also drop, and the PS Plus titles from June 2017 removed.

Meanwhile, The PS Plus June 2017 free games lineup is still live and includes an excellent selection of new games for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita owners to play provided they have a PlayStation Plus subscription.

In June fans can pick up the following games:

• Killing Floor 2, PS4
• Life is Strange, PS4
• Abyss Odyssey, PS3
• WRC 5: World Rally Championship, PS3
• Neon Chrome, PS Vita (crossbuy with PS4)
• Spy Chameleon, PS Vita (crossbuy on PS4)

These games will be available to download on all platforms until July 4, 2017 when the new PlayStation Plus lineup becomes available.

It’s expected that the PS Plus July 2017 free games lineup will be revealed on the final Wednesday of the month on July 28, 2017.

For the sake of anyone who hasn’t opted into Sony’s incredible PlayStation Plus service at the dirt cheap price of £3.33 a month, here’s what you get:

• Access to online multiplayer on your PlayStation 4
• Exclusive discounts at PlayStation Store
• Share Play – so your friends can play your games even if they don’t own a copy themselves
• 10GB of cloud storage for your PS4 game saves

More important than any of that is the fact Sony give away 24 (or more) PS4 games a year, completely free. And on top of that, a whole host of PS3 and PS Vita games as well, just to sweeten the deal.

There have been some suggestions that PlayStation Plus could include PlayStation VR games at some stage in the future, but the recent Sony PlayStation conference at E3 2017 yielded no changes on the subject.

Sony has yet to include a PSVR game in their PlayStation Plus lineup since PlayStation VR first launched in October.

However, with the PlayStation 3 console on the way out, Sony could be looking to mix up their PlayStation Plus lineup and interestingly a portion of the PlayStation VR FAQ on the official website reads:

Q: Do you have plans to offer PS VR games on PlayStation Plus?

A: We have nothing to share at this point in time, but we are looking into it.

We also wouldn’t rule out Sony including a few more AAA titles in the coming months, but specifically, those which would benefit from PS4 Pro features.

There’s plenty of older titles to choose from which have received a PS4 Pro patch, including Infamous: First Light, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and even The Last of Us: Remastered.
