This week has seen several patches launched on consoles ahead of the game’s big release date.
The next ARK Survival Evolved update has been confirmed to be arriving this week on PS4, which will include a nice new feature.
Studio Wildcard have confirmed that PC-dedicated servers will become available to PS4 players on August 16.
This could be launched just by itself, or could be part of another mid-month patch coming to each platform.
“PlayStation 4 Survivors, our PC-Hosted Console servers will be available this Wednesday with Nitrado,” a message from the development confirms.
It should be noted that Nitrado are a third-party server provider, Wildcard have confirmed that they will not be offering the service themselves.
As revealed earlier this year, Xbox One users will also be getting access to the same services, however, there have been delays.
Wildcard provided an update on the delay, revealing that dedicated servers are still on track to be launched sometime in the future for Microsoft gamers.
“We’re still working with Microsoft on some pipeline stuff, but hopefully that’s sorted soon for Xbox too.”
Studio Wildcard are also planning to launch new content on the day of the game’s full release date, August 29.
This will include Lutra Peloso, the Otter, who will be scurrying its way onto The Island later this month, and can be tamed to become a trusted companion.
“There are few creatures which provide the companionship that Lutra Peloso does,” Studio Wildcard explain.
“Rather than traveling beside you, it would prefer to comfortably rest on your back, providing insulation.
“Once domesticated, it can be told to harvest fish on demand, with a specific goal in mind from the fish that it consumes, the otter has a knack for foraging silica pearls, and can even yield a slight chance at finding black pearls within.”
Away from the new cute companion, ARK players can also look forward to some new TEK making its debut in August.
The TEK Sword, with a dash-charge attack as well as armor piercing capability.
The TEK Shield, which can reflect incoming projectiles and bullets, and can completely stop splash damage.
The TEK Light, that can be attached or picked up to and from any surface, and is self–powered by elemental shards or can be linked to generators.
